Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 August 2026
Who we are
Kacapo is operated by Alex Dickson, trading as Kacapo. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website or join our waitlist.
Important: Kacapo is not yet a registered company. This is common for businesses at the pre-launch and validation stage. A registered business email address will be added here before launch.
What data we collect
- Waitlist email address: when you enter your email to join the early access list.
- Session identifier: a temporary, anonymous ID used to understand how visitors use the demo and to prevent duplicate waitlist submissions.
- Demo inputs: any text or URL you paste into the live demo. These are sent to our AI provider to generate an answer, but they are not stored on our servers.
- Technical data: standard browser and device information collected by our analytics provider, such as page views, session duration, and approximate location.
How we use your data
We use your data only for the following purposes:
- To add you to the waitlist and notify you when Kacapo launches.
- To send you the confirmation email when you join the waitlist.
- To understand how visitors use the demo and where they drop off, so we can improve the experience.
- To prevent abuse or spam of the demo or waitlist form.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of consent. When you join the waitlist, you consent to us storing your email and contacting you about Kacapo. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us.
Who we share your data with
We use a small number of third-party services to run Kacapo. These providers process data only on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase — stores waitlist email addresses and session identifiers.
- Resend — sends the waitlist confirmation email.
- PostHog — records anonymous usage analytics and demo events.
- AI provider — processes the text or URL you paste into the demo to generate an answer. Inputs are not stored.
How long we keep your data
We keep your email address for as long as you remain on the waitlist, or until you ask us to delete it. If you do not sign up to Kacapo after launch, we will delete your email within two years of your joining the waitlist.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.
Cookies and analytics
We use PostHog to understand how visitors interact with the site. This may involve cookies or similar technologies to track page views, demo usage, and waitlist signups. You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including secure transmission, access-controlled databases, and only sharing data with trusted providers. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Kacapo grows or as the law changes. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
Contact us
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, please email us at hello@kacapo.co.
Note: This email address will be replaced with a business email address before launch. Until then, response times may be slower.
This policy is intended to meet UK GDPR requirements for a waitlist. It is not legal advice. Before you start charging customers or processing large volumes of personal data, you should have a solicitor review it.
